September 16th, Charleston SC: Southeastern summit AND forum on seismic testing and offshore drilling

Oceana and the SC Coastal Conservation League are hosting two events on the potential impacts of seismic testing and offshore drilling. Both will take place on Tuesday, September 16th in downtown Charleston, SC.

The first will be a leadership summit to convene southeastern groups interested in coordinating on next steps related to seismic and drilling activities in the Atlantic. We are still working on securing a venue, but anticipate meeting from 10 am til 2 pm, with a break for lunch.

The second will be a public forum on the potential impacts of seismic and drilling activities to southeastern fisheries—specifically, how could these activities affect recreational and commercial fishing along our coast? We will have presentations from experts in the field and also plenty of time for Q&A. Again in the midst of securing a venue, but the forum will take place from 6:30 pm til 8 pm.

While we are still finalizing details, please see the attached "save the dates" and mark your calendars for both. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, and I will send out venue and speaker details on updated invitations soon, opportunities to RSVP, as well as an agenda for the leadership summit.
