Spring Tide: A Day for the Inlet

Hunter, boater, birder, angler, paddler, jetskier, sailor: We all love the Inlet – and Spring Tide, Sunday, April 30 – is our chance to show up and show it.
Started 26 years ago in the lingering wake of Hurricane Hugo, Spring Tide is the biggest and longest-running community and saltmarsh cleanup in South Carolina. And while Matthew didn't leave us what Hugo did (that first year, some 600 volunteers gathered between 70 and 140 tons of trash and debris from the creek and streets in a single day!), this year, we have another storm to clean up after, and a marsh to restore before the green heat of summer.
By land or water, show up at 9:30 a.m. at the Hot Fish Club by Morse Landing. Work where you want or get your assignment, and clean up till Noon. At noon the cleanup gives way to the Great Murrells Inlet Chowder Cookoff, in which Inlet restaurants compete for the Best Damn Chowder award – and, along with Danny's BBQ, feed the volunteers (who eat free) . The afternoon promises laughter, fellowship and celebration featuring your favorite local entertainment.
Devote a day to the Inlet and see what a difference you can make, while seeing old friends and making new ones. This year's motto? “Come Together. Clean 'er Up: A Day for the Inlet.”
